The event to educate, acknowledge, and open the eyes of the public to the amazing and aesthetic details behind every single pair of jeans. The history behind the creation of the world famous classic 5-pocket jean we all know and love.

“WORLD FAMOUS CLASSIC 5-POCKETS”

In today’s modern era, the world of lifestyle and fashion that are exposed to young people, especially in Indonesia are always affiliated with denim. It can be easily spotted by looking at how teenagers dress nowadays that is always combining their clothing and shoes with their jeans or denim as we call it as the main piece of clothing. As we know today, denim has become a lifestyle whereas we can see how teenagers dress in Indonesia today as stated before, and it is such a pity that they only understand what is good in the eyes of the public, and become trend victims rather than understanding the essence behind the denim itself.

The purpose of presenting the theme “World Famous Classic Five Pockets” in Wall of Fades 2012 is that we will try to educate, and acknowledge the public that denim itself has an essence behind it, not just a regular piece of clothing. There are types of fits and cuttings, the history behind how denim can be made into a pair of jeans, the history behind the father brands, making process, and the incredible detail behind every pair of jeans need to be exposed to the young generation, so that they will understand why the denim available today has different types of quality, whether it is international or even local, and why they have premium prices. Opening the eyes of the public to the knowledge of how to dress in denim dominated fashion, and proper fit selection that is suitable for every type of body posture.

In this year’s event, we will present a series of exhibition such as the denim history exhibition which will tell you more about how denim was made into jeans and how the details of the jeans change from time to time, also we will provide something new this year called the “Indigo Experience” exhibition to further educate the public about the process of dyeing a fabric using natural indigo dyeing paste. Besides the exhibitions, this year we will also provide an entertainment segment for our guests.

WALL OF FADES 2012 CONTENTS

Denim History
Education about the founding of Levi Strauss will be provided, about when he decided to create a pair of jeans, the teamwork between him and Jacob Davis in patenting the use of rivets in a pair of jeans, the affiliation between Levi’s and world war II, why Levi’s switched fabrics from “Asmokeag” to “Cone” denim, the evolution and history of every detail of Levi’s product such as arcuate, belt loop, buttons, and zipper. Information about Levi’s advertising campaign through the years, and what brands reproduced Levi’s will also be provided in detail.

Indigo Experience
The indigo experience segment is where guests can experience the process of fabric dyeing that will be conducted in the form of letting the guests experience firsthand the process of coloring a fabric using natural indigo dye.

Entertainment Segment
The provision of entertainment in the form of musical performances, band, and others in Wall of Fades 2012 will give a fresh impression that Wall of Fades 2012 also has an entertainment segment, so that we can create comfort and hospitality for our respected guests.

Denim Evolution Exhibition
The exhibition of denims that has went through evolution from the color, and fading patterns where the wearer has their own history in wearing the jeans itself, who wears the jeans, how they treat it and how they wear it.

Denim Market
As done in previous years, this year we will provide a market for our guests to see the local brands of Indonesia, From denim to denim fashion essentials from local brands. This year’s number of tenants is larger than ever before, we expect 18 tenants participating in this year’s Wall of Fades.

The first and the largest denim community in Indonesia present, Wall of Fades! An annual event of INDIGO that reveals the other side of denim. INDIGO want to communicate to the public about the values in denim which commonly seen only as an ordinary pants.

On December 2009 & 2010, INDIGO has been running this event called Wall of Fades. With the enthusiasm and potential of Wall of Fades, this is our third annual event and it grows exponentially.

Nah, ayo nih, sekarang kita buka mulai hari ini sampai 30 hari ke depan. Untuk post jeans kalian, berikut dicantumin TAG username darahkubiru ya. Nanti hasil seleksi akan dilakukan oleh pihak panitia, bagi yang terpilih, tentunya jeans tersebut akan dipajang di acara WoF 2010 selama 2 hari.

Dan kalau beruntung, tahun ini akan ada hadiah lho bagi jeans yang terpilih sebagai favorit dari pengunjung (masih bersifat tentatif, akan terus dimatangkan).

Jumlah jeans yang pasti akan kita butuhin sampai saat ini adalah sebanyak 15 jeans.

Berikut kategori2 nya:

• Raw / Dry / Brand New Jeans
  Raw jeans merupakan sebuah jeans dalam kondisi benar – benar baru dan belum di berikan treatment apa – apa baik dari pabrik maupun oleh pemiliknya. Tetapi, sering ditemukan jeans baru dalam bentuk ONE WASH, untuk itu, tetap masuk ke dalam brand new jeans.
• Faded yet Unwashed Jeans
  Faded jeans merupakan Jeans yang telah dipakai oleh pemiliknya dalam sebuah jangka waktu, dan sudah memperlihatkan proses pelunturan atau pemudaran yang cukup berarti. Namun dalam kriteria ini, jeans belum melalui proses pencucian oleh pemiliknya.
• Worn and Washed Jeans
  Worn and Washed Jeans merupakan Jeans yang telah dipakai oleh pemiliknya dalam sebuah jangka waktu, dan sudah memperlihatkan proses pelunturan atau pemudaran yang cukup berarti. Dalam kriteria ini, jeans telah melalui proses pencucian oleh pemiliknya.
• Destroyed Jeans
  Destroyed Jeans merupakan sebuah jeans yang sudah melewati proses pemakaian yang jangka waktu nya melebihi 1,5 tahun, dan sudah mengalami proses pencucian beberapa kali. Destroyed denim biasanya dilihat dari beberapa bagiannya yang sudah robek, rusak, dan warna nya pun sudah sangat pudar.

Ngga peduli mau local brand atau brand luar, ngga usah malu ngga usah ngerasa cupu atau apapun, submit aja di sini.

Untuk kategori Brand New, to be honest, we’re looking for something NEW, out of the box, pretty much rare, dan at least ada melambangkan unsur vintage jeans.

Untuk yg mau submit, cukup post aja di darahkubiru keterangan Jeans nya, tipe, size, berapa lama pemakaian, dan detail2 cuci dsb. Foto cukup depan dan belakang aja yang penting bener2 memperlihatkan overall jeans, kalo mau ada tambahan mungkin repair/detail lainnya, juga diperbolehkan.

Sebagai komunitas Denim yang pertama dan terbesar di Indonesia, INDIGO ingin secara nyata mengkomunikasikan kepada masyarakat luas mengenai nilai-nilai dan kelebihan yang terkandung dalam sebuah Jeans yang sampai saat in kebanyakan dipandang hanya sebagai sebuah celana biasa.

Pada tanggal 5-6 Desember 2009 di Studiologi,Kemang INDIGO (Indonesian denim group) telah melaksanakankegiatan Wall Of Fades yang pertama. Dengan melihat antusiasme dan potensi dari kegiatan tersebut maka pada tahun 2010 , INDIGO kembali akan melaksanakan acara tersebut .

Wall Of Fades 2010 Concept
“DENIM WORKSHOP”

“Denim Workshop” yang berkesan seperti warehouse akan menjadi tema/konsep untuk Acara Wall Of Fades 2010. Konsep ini akan sedikit berbeda dari konsep Wall Of Fades 2009 yang bertemakan “Apartment”. Konsep “Denim Workshop” berawal dari pemikiran bahwa Indonesian Denim Group (INDIGO) adalah komunitas pecinta denim dimana kegiatannya adalah sharing passion & knowledge tentang denim, INDIGO memiliki acara tiap tahun yang bernama “Wall Of Fades” dimana acara ini bertujuan untuk sharing passion & knowledge kita terhadap denim ke komunitas masyarakat umum, dengan pemikiran tersebut maka terinspirasi konsep “Denim Workshop” dimana konsep ini menghadirkan environment warehouse, classic, dan tentunya kuat akan suasana denim itu sendiri.

Konsep “Denim Workshop” memiliki beberapa sub-concept yang akan dihadirkan, sebagai contoh: denim faq information, old and new (denim evolution) yang akan melibatkan evolution pada denim lokal, denim and it’s life (detail dari sebuah jeans), dan denim contes. Dengan adanya konsep ini diharapkan para pengunjung acara akan dapat mendapatkan esensi dari denim itu sendiri, sesuai dengan tujuan Wall Of Fades yaitu sharing passion & knowledge. Berikut adalah beberapa contoh gambaran dari “Denim Workshop”.

KONTEN ACARA

1. Displayed Denims & Denim Goods

Pada acara Wall of Fades, akan ada sebanyak 20-25 jeans dan denim goods yang akan dipajang di lokasi, dan jeans tersebut juga akan menjadi benda utama yang akan kami pamerkan.
Jeans yang akan di pamerkan diantaranya adalah milik anggota Indigo, milik Brand Lokal, dan para kontestan INDIGO Denim Contest.
Adapun beberapa jenis jeans yang akan di pajang pada Wall of Fades :

- Raw / Dry / Brand New Jeans
Raw jeans merupakan sebuah jeans dalam kondisi benar – benar baru dan belum di berikan treatment apa – apa baik dari pabrik maupun oleh pemiliknya.

- Worn Jeans

Selain beberapa pasang celana jeans yang akan dipajang, pihak panitia juga akan memajang beberapa benda lain yang masih berhubungan dengan denim. Seperti contohnya ialah Material denim yang masih berbentuk gulungan, kemudian Jaket denim, dan masih banyak lagi.

2. Denim Market

Pada acara, akan terdapat beberapa stand yang akan digunakan untuk menjual jeans atau denim goods lainnya. Stand tersebut akan dibuka bagi para Brand lokal dan juga Denim related seller yang akan menjual produknya pada acara.

3. Denim Photo Gallery

Selain Displayed Denims, yang akan dipajang pada acara ialah beberapa foto yang tentunya berkaitan dengan denim, pembuatan denim, dan lain-lain. Hal ini akan menjadi seperti pameran foto dan juga poster yang bertema Denim dan Jeans.

4. Announcement Winner of The INDIGO Denim Contest 2010

Pada Wall of Fades tahun ini, kami akan mengumumkan pemenang dari INDIGO Denim Contest 2010 yang telah kami laksanakan mulai 1 Februari 2010 sampai 15 November 2010. Kontes ini telah diikuti oleh 87 peserta dengan memakai jeans brand new raw jeans dari merek yang berbeda secara bersamaan pada tanggal 1 Februari 2010.
